The
Madden Players League is proud to present their league awards for the
MPL's twelfth season. We would like to give a special thanks to all of
the members for putting in a great effort to help make the MPL a
success. EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU give something special to the MPL and that is what makes our league and community so great!
So without further adeiu, we present your winners.
This was Kase's 3rd season in the league and he was determined to finally bring home the gold. After being one of the top coaches over the last 2 seasons but failing to make it to the big game, he came through in Season XII when he beat heralded rookie CMac and reached the MPL Bowl. Kase wouldnt let this oppotunity go to waste and he handled LIRican to win the MPL Bowl. Trusion did a wondeful job and deserves the title of Season XII "Coach of the Year."
The Best Team Award for Season XII goes to...
Trusion picks up another big award, this time being named Season XII's "Best Team." The Eagles' talents were well utilized by Trusion as he could pick you apart with McNabb, Westbrook, LJ Smith and the rookie Jackson at wideout. The Eagles led the league in total offense, 10th in total defense, 2nd in points for, 3rd in points against and had the 2nd fewest turnovers in the league. Philly's combined talents and effort proved that they were Season XII's "Best Team."
The Best Offense Award for Season XII goes to...
The Eagles win yet another award but they are well deserving of this one. They led the league in total offense, were #1 in passing yards, 4th in rushing yards and 2nd in points scored per game. McNabb led the league in QB Rating and passing yards while coming in 2nd for passing TDs, Westbrook was 3rd in rushing yards, and LJ Smith was 3rd in the league in receptions. Trusion definitely proved that the Eagles were Season XII's "Best Offense."
The Best Defense Award for Season XII goes to...
While the Broncos total defense ranking (17) isn't impressive on it's face, the team employed a bend but don't break approach. Denver gave up just 9 points per game which was good enough for 2nd in the league. They also racked up 28 interceptions, 26 sacks and 4 defensive touchdowns. The stifling defensive style that translated to a conference divisional round birth earned Cowboy the award for Season XII's "Best
Defense."
The Most Improved Award for Season XII goes to...
This one was easy to decide. A guy that goes from 2-8 to 10-2 and a conference championship appearance is a lock for the most improved award. Boomer went back to his winning ways once he got used to the next gen style of Madden as his team finished in the top 10 in points scored and total offense. The defensive numbers weren't outstanding but the stats that mattered most were the wins and losses. The progress displayed by Tyson is more than deserving of Season XII's "Most Improved."
The Best Trash Talker Award for Season XII goes to...
Houtz reclaims his spot as most reviled poster, aka best trash talker. He was always there to mix it up whenever there was something to be said and he never disappointed when given an opportunity to rip into somebody. Houtz will be very proud to reclaim his throne as MPL's "Best Trash Talker."
The Most Surprising Award for Season XII goes to...
The same reasons that Tyson picked up the most improved award can be used here as well. No one saw this coming as he had been easy pickings in previous seasons on the PS3 version of Madden. But he took the league by storm in Season XII and took advantage of people taking him lightly. Those Jets certainly were Season XII's "Most Surprising."
The Most Dedicated Award for Season XII goes to...
As it normally goes, the person that is in charge of maintaining the league gets the recognition for being the most dedicated. There are a lot of people that do a lot of things for the MPL so Obmij76 shares this award with all of those that have put forth time and effort in making this the league that it is.
The Most Classy Award for Season XII goes to...
There are a lot of classy people in the MPL but yet again BigBoss shines as the classiest. He is always a straight shooter who shows everyone the utmost respect. He can always be counted on to give you a clean game and takes his wins/losses in stride. Nice job Trav!
The Most Exciting Team Award for Season XII goes to...
Trusion and Cmac are cowinners of this award. They finished 1 and 2 respectively in points scored per game this season and were always a threat to get some scores on defense. Each person utilized their team's weapons to produce exposiveness on offense and defense. Opponents always have to be wary when passing against these guys as their stick skills are peerless. Congrats to Trusion and CMac on being named Season XII's "Most Exciting Team."
The Most Old School Award for Season XII goes to...
This award needs to be renamed already, lol. While Mark again holds the honor as MPL's "Most Old School," Remo is hot on his heels in developing the Old School reputation. Congrats to the two of you on being named
Season XII's "Most Old School."
Most Creative Poster Award for Season XII goes to...
Whether it's a smart remark of his creative writing when it comes to defending his beloved Cowboys, Superpunk can always be counted on to have some entertaining posts. It was always amusing to read what SP had to say and that led to him being named Season XII's "Most Creative Poster."
Best Newcomer for Season XII goes to...
For the third straight season the MPL has had a rookie competing for the MPL Bowl. This season we had 2 rookies with the skills that were good enough to gun for the title but both were taken down by eventual champion Trusion. Though LIRican made it to the MPL Bowl, the voting for Best Newcomer went the way of CMac. Congrats to CMac on being voted as Season XII's "Best Newcomer."
The Biggest Disappointment Award for Season XII goes to...
No one saw this type of season coming. Ethan has always been a fixture in the playoffs and has an MPL title to his credit. But he seemed doomed from the start when he drafted the hated Giants as his Season XII squad. Ethan went from playoff lock to an 0-5 start and a 5-7 finish. He did finish the season strong so dont expect another sub .500 record from this former champ anytime soon.
"The '76 Bucs/'08 Lions" Award for Season XII goes to...
The Colts managed to win just 1 game and that was a 1 point win over the 3-9 Jaguars at the beginning of the season. Indy was shut out 3 times and scored just 7 points six other times. The Colts have Season XII's dubious distinction as being the winner of the "1976 Bucs/2008 Lions Award."
The Best Post Game Recaps Award for Season XII goes to...
Trusion takes the award off of Ethan's mantle this season. He did a nice job of giving detailed recaps and incorporated EA's video feature. For his creativity and consistency in providing recaps of his games, Trusion wins Season XII's award for "Best Post Game Recaps."
The Most Talkative Award for Season XII goes to...
Houtz gets his third consecutive most talkative award. He always had a lot to say and Houtz was a big influence in getting more people to post and he had a way of flaring up some controversy along the way. The acvtivity shown by Houtz on the boards helped sustain Season XII as a whole and it is greatly appreciated. Nice job on earning this award Houtz!
The Best Sig Award for Season XII goes to...
There were some pretty memorable sigs this past season but there has to be congrats given to Chnkr for having Season XII's "Best Sigs."
The Best Sig Maker Award for Season XII goes to...
Season XII sees Jimbo get his sigmaker title back. There werent alot of sigs to be had around the forums but the ones that Jim did make were enough for him to be called Season XII's "Best
Sig Maker."
The Best Topic of the Season....
By Popular demand, Houtz's Homering was voted as the Best Topic of Season XII.
Fondest Memory of the Season....
By Popular demand, Getting win number 1 so I knew I wouldn't go 0-12, lol (Steph), The World Series till the Phils won(Raider88dc), were voted as the Fondest Memories of Season XII.
The Best of MPL Season XI....
By Popular demand, Prez returns to the league, weekly NFL discussions, Madden 09 were voted as the Best of MPL Season XII.
The Worst of MPL Season XII....
The worst of MPL Season XII was voted as Jim steps down as commish, league inactivity on the forums and with features, Homers.
The Game of the Year for MPL XII....
** Game Recap As Written By Trusion **
"Nothing like the first time". Those were the first words to come out of cornerback Asante Samuel's mouth. The Philadelphia Eagles were staring in the face of a one and done campaign while trailing the Vikings 17-14 in the 4th quarter. Philadelphia led 14-7, then after a Lito Sheppard INT at their own 5 yard line, McNabb would be sacked by Jared Allen for the safety which would make the game 14-9, Birds.
After the punt, Minnesota would take it the distance and convert a 2 point conversion to take a stunning 17-14 lead over the group. This lead would be short-lived as McNabb and the Eagles marched right down the field. The drive would end on a 26 yard Westbrook TD run.
This would take Minnesota out of their short passing game and ball control offense a bit as the clock was ticking down. The Eagles brought pressure in this one, but couldn't seem to get to Frerotte much. However in the 4th quarter, Philadelphia accomplished alot with just a 3 or 4 man rush while Minny was under the gun. 5 of Philly's 8 sacks came in the 4th quarter. "Apparently we were doing something wrong for much of this one", joked defensive coordinator Jim Johnson. The Eagles forced two interceptions by Lito Sheppard and Quintin Mikell while Frerotte was forced into 2 fumbles that were recovered by Minny.
Minnesota didn't show up in the first matchup, but they pushed the Birds to the brink in this one. Now Philadelphia will prepare for a trip to St. Louis to take on the Rams for a shot in the super bowl
